Graphic Designer (and events organiser) 🤩
We are looking for a highly motivated and multi-talented designer who loves people, manage events and can learn fast.
About Yum Bug
At Yum Bug we turn insects into delicious foods people love and recognise like burgers, mince and nuggets. Our bug-based foods aren't just great for the planet but are also great for you with about 30% more protein than beef.

We have had backing from the likes of Holly Branson (Virgin), Peter Norris (Virgin), Carl Pei (Nothing, One Plus), James Frost (Gay Times).
We’re on a mission to change perceptions and take edible insects mainstream. To do this Yum Bug is building a world-class team of fun-loving, ambitious people, and we’d love you to be one of them!

Role
Our Graphic Designer role is more of a generalist sitting at the intersection of our online and offline activities. You’ll be designing materials for online (social media, website) and offline (packaging, banners, flyers) applications, as well as coordinating our events marketing.
In addition to creating beautiful designs, you’ll also need to be a people person, managing a small team, and be an enthusiastic BUG evangelist at our events.
You’ll be:
Designing various graphics ie. social media and website, banners and flyers, packaging
Leading our events at festivals and street food stalls
Often working either a Saturday or Sunday market instead of one weekday
Get relevant media coverage by writing and pushing through press releases, including finding awesome influencers (celebs) to support what we are doing
Get these awesome influencers and celebs to shoot ad hoc recipe videos with us in the studio, and assist our Photographer / Videographer as appropriate
Jumping in to help other team members every so often
What you need to do the job effectively:
Believe insects are the future of food, and have a strong desire to help create a more sustainable food system
Experienced designer with Jedi-like design skills. You should be able to use at least Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
Can design to (and eventually evolve) the BUG graphic style brand
Can write clearly and succinctly, and in BUG’s jovial tone of voice
Able to manage people – particularly at events and market stalls
Charismatic and charming with amazing people skills
Entrepreneurial in solving problems. ie. can independently own a problem and find solutions
Speak, read and write in perfect English
Be able to work in our London studio (Islington)
Bonus (but not at all essential):
Have designed for and worked with a food brand
Experience working at / running street food stalls
Has UK driving licence (and can drive a small van)
Have writing experience (could be a hobby ie. personal blog)
Have professional photography experience
Familiar with Wix website platform
Can animate using Adobe After Effects or can render and animate in 3D on software like Blender, Maya, 3ds Max etc.
Who You Are
The type of person you are and your values are just as important to us as your experience and skills. We only hire really kind people!
We are looking for a highly motivated, self-driven, designer who gains energy from speaking with people and who enjoys putting their creative skills to work away from the computer.
You need to be able to get stuck into tasks and be a fast learner – you’ll be joining a startup after all!
Values we’d love from you:
Sense of humour with a healthy dose of humility
Creative and loves beautiful design
Very organised and runs a tight ship
Team player and empathetic
Able to take (and give) constructive feedback
Fast learner, adaptable and relishes a challenge
Positive – a glass half full kind of person
Loves food!
What You'll Get
