About Yum Bug
At Yum Bug we turn insects into delicious foods people love and recognise like burgers, mince and nuggets. Our bug-based foods aren't just great for the planet but are also great for you with about 30% more protein than beef.
We have had backing from the likes of Holly Branson (Virgin), James Watt (BrewDog), Carl Pei (Nothing, One Plus), James Frost (Gay Times).
We’re on a mission to change perceptions and take edible insects mainstream. To do this Yum Bug is building a world-class team of fun-loving, ambitious people, and we’d love you to be one of them!
As Sous Chef at Yum Bug you will be working with our Head Chef and to develop delicious dishes for our restaurant menu and run excellent service.
Helping to set up a brand-new insect based restaurant in London
Working with the Head Chef founders Leo & Aaron to design an evolving insect-based menu
Ensuring smooth running of the kitchen inc. prepping meals, ordering stock etc.
Attending events or festivals we are catering for
Jumping in to help other team members every so often, when necessary
What you need to do the job effectively:
Able to cook delicious food that fits the vibe of our restaurant (similar vibe to Jolene)
Have experience running a kitchen producing exceptional, unpretentious plates of food
Have a good knowledge of European cuisine, and broader cuisines
Able to take constructive feedback
Not be afraid of hard work and occasionally pulling long hours!
Able to work in a team and communicate clearly (inc speak, read and write in perfect English)
Bonus (but not at all essential):
Has over 1 year cheffing experience
Great at shooting content
